- This beautiful hardwood is also known as coco or french tamarind. It is common in South America, however this particular piece of wood was one I hand picked from my supplier in Hawaii where it also grows.It is very similar in weight and colour to Koa. It makes for a fantastic sounding snare drum as the weight of the shell is relatively light.
