Details
This is a prototype of the new K Class Hybrid snare drums. The design of this series is based on that of drum designer Clifford Della-Porta who patented the design in 1975 (US Patent # 3,911,799). Most metal - wood hybrid drums suffer from being excessive in weight. I have found a way to reduce the overall weight of the drum by using strong but rigid metals such as stainless steel and titanium. This particular model uses stainless steel coupled with a MonoPly Koa core section.A great advantage to this design is that the drum sections will not separate when the heads are removed. The sound of this drum is very rich and it's quite capable of producing great sound and phenomenal body at all tunings with no overpowering high end "crack". Look for the release of the K Class models at the 2006 Winter NAMM show.
