1st & 2nd Quarter report...

How's business?...

Apologies for the lack of news updates recently. It has been a very busy year so far and there are no signs of anything slowing down around here - which is good for everyone! So let me show you some recent work, but before we get to that, how about some FREE drums?

The Great Dunnett Classic / George Way

Snare Drum Olympic Gold

It's been several years since NSMD hosted the Snare Drum Olympics and I was really pleased when George Lawrence decided to run another SDO in conjunction with the Southern Drum Show this past July. In previous years Dunnett Classic Titanium andStainless models did extremely well winning numerous gold medals. This year both Dunnett Classic and George Way did exceptionally taking top marks in the Custom OEM classification.

What's New?

True Titanium : The Original Titanium snare drum

6514 Super T  Titanium with Titanium hoops

This was a special order for a client who was celebrating a milestone birthday and wanted to treat himself. He loves cars, race cars in particular and decided to have his prize finished in traditional British Racing Green. He also decided to go a step further and add polished titanium hoops. A drum worthy of its finish!

MonoPly X Ipe with Steel single flange hoops

This was another special order for a client who wanted a special gift for a very special son. This drum represents the first time I worked with this particular wood, which fits into the heavy or exotic class of woods . Because of the thinness of the shell the drum is warmer and richer than what you might expect from a 4.5" deep drum. I can also tell you that there was no cheating on the ghost notes on this one - it is extremely sensitive. A unique drum deserving of the highly sought-after R logo round badge.

True Titanium : The Original Titanium snare drum NOW WITH MORE FIBRE!

Carbon Fibre that is. A very limited series of Stainless and TI snare drum equipped with carbon fibre hoops in silver or natural fibre. Hey...it's GOOD for you, just don't eat 'em.

The Trade Show Tour 2009

This spring's trade show tour took me on the usual circuit - Los Angeles (twice), Frankfurt (via Amsterdam) and Chicago and those shows were something else this year. Unfortunately I have only the Drumsmith.com pictorials from the Hollywood show and the Winter NAMM show ready for you right now. (Click on the image to open the pictorial!) Pictorials from the Music Messe and the Chicago show are coming soon...just as soon as I get a breather!

Hollywood 2009

Cindy Blackman, Todd Sucherman, Bernie Dresel, Bryan Hitt and Joe LaBarbera - 5 good reasons get on out to the 12th annual Hollywood Drum Show. There is a great new venue this year and the show promises to be one of the best ever. Plus. the ever popular Drumsmith.com BBQ Feast. Doesn't get any better than that. Richie Hayward Benefit

Richie Hayward, legendary drummer and one of the original founders and members of Little Feat, now celebrating their 40th year, is having to take an indefinite amount of time off to treat a severe liver disease. In the year to come, he will be facing treatments, possible transplant, no work/performing, no income, and no insurance. Richie is now living in the Comox Valley and is a dear friend of Pacific Disturbance. Pacific Disturbance will be performing at and hosting a fund raiser to help Richie with these overwhelming medical expenses. The fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Aug 23 at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay. Time approx 12pm-11pm, with a variety of bands and performers all day. Jerry Doucette will be there as well as many local performers. A silent auction, raffles and donations have been organized to raise funds. Bands and single artists are invited to perform.

For more info, please contact Jerry Leet at 334-7444, or click on the image to go to the web site for updates!

Richie has touched and inspired so many of us musically, let's say thanks in a way that will not only touch him back, but also help him at this crucial time.
