September 2007
OK, let's see...May, June, July, August and September. I can't remember ever going 5 months without a news update. It can only mean one thing: It has been a busy summer. This year marks the first time I haven't experienced a summer slow down. Translation: I haven't had time to do the things I would normally do during the summer - take some holidays, do some product development etc. I'm not complaining, really!

6515MP 6.5" x 14" MonoPly® Milkwood in Gold Glass Glitter
This drum and several other unique models will be available for purchase at Drummer Live 2007 through my UK dealers - Poole Percussion and Sound Attak!
Maple Schmaple. This is Milkwood, and Milkwood is what Maple always wanted to be be couldn't. What you are looking at here is a beautiful rendition of my most popular MonoPly offering - a 6.5" x 14 Milkwood. Milkwood is my proprietary name for this select species of wood that represents the lightest wood shell available anywhere. Period. And what exactly does that mean to you as a drummer, studio owner, producer or engineer? More of everything! Warmth, depth, tuning / tensioning latitude - all without the acoustic petulance or homogenized sound sometimes associated with solid maple snare drums. Throughout the entire tuning / tensioning range Milkwood delivers a fat, creamy richness - even when you tune it to the upper register - giving you all the versatility you could ever hope for in a wooden snare drum and less time fooling around in the studio trying to get THAT snare sound. It's the Bomb. The Workhorse. The one you take with you over the others.

6513MP 6.5" x 14" MonoPly® Milkwood in Clear Matte lacquer
As with all Dunnett Classic snare drums the R2 quick release throw off / butt, 42 strand snare wires and the Hypervent I are standard equipment.

The George H. Way Drum Company
Update!

George Way Custom "Advance" model shown with clear Marine Pearl band
If there is one thing that George Way did well, it was the attention he paid to detail. In keeping with that I have made some last minute changes and improvements to the current George Way line. Unfortunatley these changes have also resulted in some delays in the initial delivery of George Way snare drums. The drums are coming though and when they arrive one look and one listen will tell you that these were worth the wait! Please visit www.georgewaydrums.ca for upcoming announcements!

A British invasion of a different sort...Dunnett Classic at Drummer Live 2007

In less than a month I'll be making my way over the pond to join in the festivities at Drummer Live 2007 in London England. This will be my first trip to the UK and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be at the booth of my UK dealers - Poole Percussion and Sound Attak who have been very supportive and instrumental (no pun) in introducing Dunnett Classic to Britain.
Both Sound Attak and Poole have taken on a good selection of unique Dunnett Classic snare drums for the event, so if you are planning on attending and have wanted to hear for yourself what all of the fuss is about, Drummer Live is the perfect opportunity!

The 2007 Musik Messe Show - Frankfurt, Germany

Welcome to Messe!
It all happened a while back in April, but I invite you to visit the drumsmith.com online pictorial of Dunnett Classic's year 3 adventures at the Musik Messe held in Frankfurt, Germany.
If you make it to the end of the pictorial you'll also be treated to a special travelogue of my visit to Berlin in a photo documentary I call Pieceable Kingdom. Worth it!

The 2007 Chicago Drum Show

Rob Cook's Chicago Custom & Vintage Drum show was a huge success this year. Why spoil it all by telling you? Click on the image to view the drumsmith.com pictorial or visit this link : http://www.drumsmith.com/chicago2007/chicago2007.html
In my ipod
Ther have been so many great projects that have come to fruition over the past few months - I need to put ALL of these out here because I have every single track from these albums in my Nano!

Taylor Mills - Lullagoodbye
When your partner happens to be Todd Sucherman you can rest assured you're not going to have to worry about exceptional drum tracks. Listening to Taylor's debut album you realize there wasn't anything to worry about on this album. Taylor's beautiful voice is framed by great production and equally great performances by all of the musicians including Tommy Shaw and Brian Wilson. Todd used his Dunnett Classic Titanium on the tracks 'Saints Leaving', 'Anything' and 'Consolation Prize'. www.taylormillsmusic.com
Billy Ward Trio- Out the Door
More great music from Billy Ward, Barry Coates and Bill Urmson. Like a great bottle of wine that's bottomless!
The New Pornographers - Challengers
The album I had been waiting for and well worth it. The production has Kurt Dahle's prints all over it and again the opportunity to hear the stunning clarity and presence of Kurt's 6514 Stainless Steel Dunnett surrounded by steel drum kit. This album - along with the first 2 NP albums - are must haves.
